DAY 1 QUEENSTOWN / PYKE RIVER LODGE - Early this morning, you are transferred from Queenstown to Hollyford Valley to begin your trek. Once you reach the trail, you will retrace the footsteps of early explorers to Pyke River Lodge. The track undulates gently through native beech forest and alongside cascading waterfalls. Along the way, hear historical accounts and interpretation of the flora and fauna. In the evening, you can visit a nearby glow-worm colony. (12 miles) (L,D)
Day 2 PYKE RIVER LODGE / MARTIN’S BAY LODGE - Start the day with a short walk to Lake Alabaster and learn the history and geology of the area. Kayak & Walk - South Island Experience the magic of the Abel Tasman from both water and land! First, take a guided sea kayak tour to see the Tonga Island seals. Then on to Anchorage for a night on board a houseboat. The next day, enjoy the walk along the famous coastal track from Anchorage to Marahau. Your kayak voyage leaves from Marahau (about 70 minutes drive south of Nelson and 20 minutes north of Motueka). Bus transfers are available from Nelson at a nominal cost.
